It’s because of that mission that I couldn’t be more excited to announce that Historic BBQ is teaming up with Traeger Grills starting this competition season. Whether it is on the competition circuit battling for championships, at a local Traeger dealer growing the BBQ family, or in the backyard cooking for friends and family I trust my Traeger to help take my cooking to the next level. Reserve Grand Champion in McMinnville, TN

It must have been the Warren County connection as Warren County Pork Choppers of Warren County, Kentucky took Grand Champion and the Historic BBQ boys from Warren County, Ohio took Reserve Grand Champion at Smokin' in McMinnville in Warren County, Tennessee. That's a lot of "Warren County" in one place!

In a field of 40 teams, including some of the best in the country, the Historic BBQ team was close to being on top, just coming up short behind the current #1 team in the nation! The Lebanon, Ohio boys did it with a 6th in Ribs, a 3rd in Pork, and a 2nd in Brisket, which scored a great 178.2972, but was outdone by the Grand Champion with a perfect 180... congrats to them! Chicken came up a little short this time, 12th, and with a little better result there... who knows?!

This was a well run event and we had a lot of fun. Thank you to everyone there for all the hard work! It was great seeing old friends and making new ones! We sure do enjoy our BBQ friends, especially when they become close ones!

On another note and for the first time publicly, we wanted to share the fact, this year we have been competing on our Historic BBQ rubs! It was not our intent to develop a rub for the competition cook. We just wanted to provide something to help everyday people cook like the pros at home. As fortune would have it, our scores, results, and number of calls have never been higher than they have been since using our Historic BBQ "Black - Beef & Bird" and "Red - Pork & Poultry." A big thank you to Phil Wingo and PorkMafia Chicago for helping us get them to packaging!

A huge THANK YOU to our entire team, our great families, and our awesome hometown of Lebanon, Ohio and everyone there for the continued support and encouragement!

Ribs Take 1st Place at Grills Gone Wild in London, Ky

The Historic BBQ Competition Team headed down to London, Kentucky at the end of March for the Grills Gone Wild BBQ Festival.  It was the first competition of the 2014 season and the farthest south the team had competed.  They took this chance to try out some new things and this was the first competition run for the new cooker.  The result was a 1st Place in Ribs!

The weather was rough with a large amount of rain and swampy conditions, but the team was not phased as they enjoyed their new "home on the road," a 30' travel trailer/toy hauler.  It's not as cool or recognizable as The BBQ Bus, but it is a lot more comfortable and has a private restroom!

News -inline -trailer

The team finished 14th out of 42 teams overall in a field that included some top notch cook teams, including world champions and the current #1 team in the nation.  Not too bad for the boys from Lebanon, Ohio!

Anniversary at 3rd Friday Another Sellout

The last 3rd Friday on Mulberry St. of 2013 was extra special for us at Historic BBQ.  As many know, we have been doing BBQ for several years, but it was just prior to this time last year that Historic BBQ, the company, was officially formed and the final 3rd Friday, 2012 was our first big event. We owe a huge thanks to LCNB & The Lebanon Chamber for getting us in!  It was a great night and we were blessed to sell out in just 2.5 hours and the rest is history or Historic, you might even say!

In honor of our 1 Year Anniversary, our start at 3rd Friday 1 Year Ago, and recognizing our Chamber Membership, which we had never taken the time to do... there was a Ribbon Cutting at The BBQ Bus at this year's final night!  We were very excited to be joined by a lot of family, friends, and supporters... we are truly here because of all of you and we want to thank our incredible hometown, the beautiful Historic Lebanon Ohio!

First BBQ Competition Goes Great

The Lebanon, Ohio based Historic BBQ Competition Team competed in the Buckeye State BBQ Championship held during the VOA BBQ Bash in West Chester, Ohio.  This was the team's first ever BBQ competition.  The expectations were high, but realistic, especially with a field of 36 competitors, including some experienced and top veteran competition teams.

Joining Tony and John was Logan, who was an integral team member during the event!  The guys finished 16th overall and received several perfect scores in all 3 categories of "appearance, taste, and tenderness" for all 4 meats and from multiple judges.  Their best performance was in the Rib category, where they finished 6th, just 0.5 point out of 3rd and 1 taste point shy of making it to 2nd.

A huge thank you to everyone that came out to say hello and support the guys!  Check out images of the event, including all turn-in boxes on our Facebook page.

Rolling out the Historic BBQ Bus

Historic BBQ is proud and excited to unveil our new food truck... The BBQ Bus or as we affectionately call her... “B.B.”

She will be hitting the road in Lebanon, Ohio and the surrounding area very soon and in tow right behind will be "The Twins"... our awesome custom cooking rig from American Barbecue Systems in Olathe, Kansas.  It contains the mammoth ABS Judge and the versatile ABS Bar-Be-Cube.

This unique combination allows us to provide high quality BBQ catering and vending throughout the area, while affording us the tools needed for the competitive BBQ circuit.

Custom ABS Smoking Rig - Build, Arrival, Seasoning

To be able to provide high quality BBQ catering in and around the Lebanon, Ohio area, we searched and researched to find the top, most versitile, American-made cookers we could find.  The result is our awesome custom cooking rig from American Barbecue Systems in Olathe, Kansas.  We affectionately call it, "The Twins."  It's built to our specific needs and both smokers are electronically monitored and controlled by our Stoker unit.

This dual cooker trailer has the attention to detail you want and incredible quality work by a quality company.  A huge thank you to company owner and President, Mark Hillman!  A great guy to work with!

See all the images for the build, the arrival and set-up, the seasoning, and the first cook, all online at our Facebook page.

The Spirit of BBQ Comes to Life

We have always loved BBQ.  We love to make it, eat it, talk about it, the smell of the fire and wood, the time spent together with friends during a cook, basically everything about it.  And when we think of BBQ, we think of the spirit of America, especially being from such a historic hometown like Lebanon, Ohio.
